Judge Fleming placed the Jersey classes at the 2009 I.D.W. which was the largest show in recent years. Certainly the big winners were Brunchilli Jerseys owned by the Boyd family. They exhibited the Sr. Champion 6 year old, the Intermediate Champion, the Jr 3 and the Grand Champion (Jr. 3), both Lester Sambo daughters. On the sire side Lester Sambo dominated, with Jade a close second.
I thought the overall quality was above recent years without perhaps the one or two really outstanding animals we have come to expect. That is not to denigrate the outstanding exhibits, but I just didn't see another "Maybelle" this year.
I thought Judge Fleming did an outstanding job and was easy to follow, perhaps I would have gone with a little more milk and a little less "fancy" in several classes, but certainly no big disagreements here. Would be nice to see Judge Fleming do a US show, and I certainly could support that selection. RRB |
